Job Summary

University of Utah Sandy Center is looking for a savvy, outgoing person to fill a Part-Time Office Assistant/Proctor position. Hours: Fridays from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm; and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. No work hours during Semester Breaks or Holidays. May fill in for employees who are sick or on vacation as needed during other working days/hours.

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Due to proctoring of exams, Office Assistants may not be enrolled in University of Utah Classes.
  • This position will report to the University of Utah Sandy Center at 10011 Centennial Parkway, Suite 100, Sandy UT 84070


  • Turn off security alarm.
  • Unlock front doors, open testing room, and turn on all computers.
  • Assist students with printing on RedPrint.
  • Answer questions regarding the university via telephone and email, as well as in person.
  • Process payment from students for proctoring fees, and other services.
  • Proctor exams, including Make-up Exams for University of Utah students, and students from other schools, colleges, and universities. Receive and hold completed exams and assignments for instructors.
  • Process and package UOnline exams on Saturdays to make ready for courier pickup on Monday.
  • Distribute messages, mail, and materials to instructors and staff.
  • Clean the testing furniture, arrange chairs, pick up any trash, and fill copier and printer trays with paper.
  • Turn off lights and lock rooms
  • At closing time, secure the building by locking all doors and setting the alarm system.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required. A commitment to provide excellent customer service and one-year, full-time, customer service experience or equivalency. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and familiarity with IT/AV equipment including Zoom. Must possess good organizational, technical proficiency, human relations and communication skills.


  • AV/Zoom monitoring and troubleshooting experience
  • Computer skills including word processing, presentation, creative, and spreadsheet software experience
  • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills
