Red Butte Garden is seeking a part-time Weekend Educator. Join a great team and gain valuable experience planning and teaching weekend programs for children at the Garden. This is a part-time, non-benefitted, seasonal position. Work schedule is 19 hours per week, with Saturday (approx. 9 AM – 4 PM) work required. Position runs from May 2019 through October 2019.
•Planning and teaching: Garden Adventure classes, Learning Lab activities, and other weekend youth programs
•Preparing Sprout House for programs, welcoming participants, leading activities with other staff, Sprout House cleanup, and insuring guest satisfaction
•Assisting with daily operations by maintaining supplies, facilities, and equipment
•Performing any other departmental duties as directed by the Youth Education Coordinator and the Youth & Family Programs Manager
This is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check, first aid training are required. Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.
