Job Summary
Similar to judicial clerkship positions, clerks for the Office of General Counsel will focus primarily on research and writing. But participants in the Office of General Counsel’s clerkship program will also have the unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the internal operations of large, sophisticated corporate clients and their in-house legal departments. Those insights will enable clerks to better understand and better serve their own clients upon entering private practice. Additionally, clerks will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the Office of General Counsel’s work process. From the initial identification of legal issues, to the research that enables the proposal of solutions, to the implementation of those solutions, clerks will work alongside experienced attorneys, gaining practical experience in a supportive, educational environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: The Office of General Counsel for the University of Utah is now accepting applications for a temporary clerkship. The Office of General Counsel represents the legal interests of the University of Utah by providing detailed legal advice on a multitude of issues, including matters involving constitutional law, employment law, employee benefits, students, health law, immigration, business transactions, real estate and construction, software license agreements, intellectual property, privacy, and information security.
Minimum Qualifications

Strongly Preferred: Actively pursuing Juris Doctorate; excellent academic record; effective verbal and written communication; interpersonal organizational skills; attention to detail.
