Job Summary

Provide small group tutoring in Biomedical Engineering ( BME ) subjects on campus. Additional, one-on-one virtual tutoring will be optional at tutor’s discretion. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to identify learning challenges and improving study skills.

Other assistance may include: reviewing class material, discussing the text, preparing for tests, formulating ideas for papers, and working on solutions to help improve academic skills and abilities.

Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching. Tutors are not expected to fulfill the role of a TA. Tutors are expected to review class material made available by course instructors, discuss the text, prepare for tests, formulate ideas for papers, and work on solutions to help improve student’s academic skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

● 5-10 hours of group tutoring per week (including preparation time)

● Prepare for each tutoring session by reviewing class materials and Canvas page

● Commit to working the full semester

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalency; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required.

The incumbent will be required to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( BCI ) Background check

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

Students should be willing to tutor in one or more of the following courses

● 1020 – Fundamentals of Biomedical Engineering I

● 3070 – Introduction to Statistics for Biomedical Engineering

● 3101 – Biosignals Analysis in Spring 2022

● 3301 – Computation Methods for Biomedical Engineers

● 4001 – Biotransport/Biomolecular

● 4301 – Introduction to Modern Biomaterials
