Job Summary

Applicants: Use your scientific background and writing/editing skills in another way-support Huntsman Cancer Institute, anNCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, in its efforts to maximize its potential and achieve its goals. Work in a positive Research Development/Research Administration environment as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

•Provide writing and editorial review of scientific grants and other scientific narratives

•Maintain high standards for written work, with the goal to produce top-quality products that meet or exceed the guidelines and objectives of funding agencies.

•Provide detailed copy editing of written narratives, with strong attention to grammar, formatting, and style.

•Aid in the development of institutional grant proposals by participating as a member of researcher teams.

•Develop and maintain an awareness of HCI’s strategic goals and accomplishments.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field ad determined by department.

Preferences

•Broad grasp of modern science techniques and approaches. Strongly prefer an advanced degree in a life science (PhD, MD, MS), or related/equivalent area; five years of progressively more responsible scientific and/or writing/editorial experience.

•Understanding of scientific funding mechanisms and grant application processes a plus.

•Expertise with office and writing software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote). Basic graphics and/or web development/database skills a plus (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
