Job Summary

The Systems Engineer for University of Utah’s Identity and Access Management (IAM) team will focus on the operations part of theIAMteam mission and support the daily needs of the team and customers.

AboutIAM: As a unit in the U’s Information Security Office (ISO), theIAMteam’s mission is to provide the right information to the right people at the right times and places. TheIAMteam is responsible for the overall care and maintenance of the university’s directories, and for efforts like single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), identity lifecycle management, and security access certifications.

The Systems Engineer will maintain and manage end-user access in accordance with defined security processes and IT controls, triage/manage help desk tickets in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs), execute dailyIAMsystems management functions, and provide ongoing engineering and project support. The engineer will review and maintain department documentation to ensure that it reflects current processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Department Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field.

2-4 years developing, implementing, and/or architecting information systems.

Strong knowledge of Active Directory.

Strong ability to document standards and workflows.

Familiarity withSSO,MFA(especially Duo),LDAP, identity federation,RBA, access and resource provisioning.

Familiarity with general IT security topics and practices.

Understanding of access review/certification and life-cycle management.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity withIAMconcepts and technologies.

Strong customer focus.

Ability to take ownership of an issue and drive to resolution or completion.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners.
