UIT Campus Computer Support – UCCS acts as a support entity for over 30 departments on the University campus. The UCCS System Administrator is expected to work as a team member to support the computing needs for both desktop and server support. Support includes: recommending hardware and software, building and rebuilding desktop and laptop computers with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems, troubleshoot and resolve computer, network, printer and active directory connectivity issues, peer training of departmental staff on special software, hardware and procedures, tablet and/or smart phone configuration, documentation, configuring group policy and preference management in active directory, disk rights and allocation, computing needs assessment and consultation, disk imaging, remote connection management, virus or malware identification, removal and cleaning, machine update, patch, upgrade, web page, web server, database assistance, and other support and maintenance activities as needed. This position requires a continued learning effort for supporting new and old software and technology for different client needs.

Main Campus staff: Employees and/or functions designated as mandatory, requiring employees to be physically located on campus in order to maintain campus systems and operations if they are healthy without symptoms.
U of U Health Academics Faculty and Staff: All employees necessary for the direct on-site support of clinical operations, patient care, and essential research activities if they are healthy without COVID -19 symptoms.
•Proficient in loading, troubleshooting and supporting MS Windows and Macintosh desktop computer operating systems.
•Must be able to quickly and efficiently diagnose and resolve software, hardware, virus, and network connectivity issues for desktop, laptop, server, ipad, cell phone, etc.
•Responsible with writing, maintaining and implementing active directory group policies and group preferences.
•Position will be required to update, patch and support Microsoft server, RDS environments, web applications and assist with database mgt and reporting.
•Responsible for creating SCCM deployments for OS builds and software installs on desktop and laptop computers.
•Position is required to be on call to support the designated department.
•Responsible for reviewing, and creating documentation of support procedures.
•Position requires travel on and off campus using personal vehicle when support issues arise.
•Must be able to learn new applications, analyze the interconnections and support the end user and the server implementation of these applications.
•Expected to be available outside of normal business hours for client needs, or for server or desktop upgrades or updates which need to be completed outside of normal business hours.
•Expected to work autonomously with minimal administrative direction.
Environment: Will require lifting, bending, repetitive desk work such as typing and long term sitting.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Department Minimum Qualifications:
•Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the job summary.
•Extensive experience with configuration and support of Microsoft Window operating systems, MS Office products, Adobe products and their best practices.
•Experience with setup, maintenance and support of Microsoft server, web services, sql database reporting, and RDS environments.
•Experience with supporting and maintaining Macintosh operating systems and the installation, configuration and use of Virtual box.
•Experience with technical writing and writing end user procedure or instructional documentation.
•Experience with Active directory structure and the configuration of Group Policies and Group Preferences.
•Excellent customer support and customer relations skills with a professional demeanor.
•Strong coordination, organization, time management, and demonstrated communication skills.
• SCCM setup, configuration and maintenance or other support and automation software solution.

•5 years of experience in desktop and server hardware and software support, trouble shooting and resolution.
•MS SQL database administration.
• ITIL Foundation Certification.
•A+, MCSE , CCNA , Network+, or other applicable certifications.
•Security or Police application experience
•Experience with VM server environments running both Windows and Linux server platforms.
