Job Summary

The System Administrator is expected to work as a team member with the College of Health support group. This position will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the computing environment for the College. Customer interactions and support must be provided in a timely professional manner. The incumbent must be a highly skilled IT professional who is knowledgeable in desktop and server computer configuration and support, is detail oriented, follows process, and has an approachable, friendly attitude. This position requires a continued learning effort for supporting new and old software and technology for different client needs.

Responsibilities

· Engineer, test, deploy and manage client images and provisioning for MacOS and Windows devices.

· Manage, maintain, and evolve enterprise client management systems JAMF and SCCM .

· Evaluate changes in hardware or software environments to determine appropriate strategies for deploying, patching, and configuring devices.

· Ensure managed devices comply with good security practices and relevant policies.

· Install, configure, and manage enterprise computer management systems and updated drivers.

· Evaluate and test new hardware and software solutions

· Assist IT Specialist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software incidents.

· Serve as ultimate escalation point for technical support of client systems.

· Develop and assess innovative solutions for business-driven projects and initiatives.

· Research, update, and distribute application packaging, patch and driver management for College-owned assets using SCCM and JAMF

· Network Printer support including Print Servers / queues

· Leverage automation to replace repetitive administration tasks by designing, implementing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining scripts, policies, profiles, maintenance groups/collections, and other tools.

· Assist in the development, documentation and communication of better practices and procedures and techniques to ensure that the team is providing the best possible service.

· Interact professionally with clients exhibiting strong customer service skills.

· Provide timely project updates and status reports.

· Act as a liaison between customers, support staff and central campus IT to ensure accurate problem interpretation and resolution.

· Expected to be available outside of normal business hours for client needs, or for server or desktop upgrades or updates which need to be completed outside of normal business hours.

· Understand, follow, and implement appropriate change management controls

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

· 5 years of experience in desktop and server hardware and software support, troubleshooting and resolution.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy/Preferences.

· SCCM setup, configuration and maintenance. Use or knowledge of other automation software solutions.

· Jamf management and configuration experience

· Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Printing and/or Enterprise Print Management with various printing functions within business and/or clinical applications.

· Knowledge of server virtualization installation, configuration, administration, management, and backup.

· Knowledge of application packaging and software delivery.

· Knowledge of Symantec Endpoint Protection installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

· Knowledge of Microsoft BitLocker and Apple FileVault installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting.

· Knowledge of Two Factor Authentication solutions that include Duo installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

· Current knowledge and background in managing Microsoft servers in a complex, heterogeneous environment.

· Experience managing devices with SCCM , Jamf, and/or Intune.

· ITIL Foundation Certification.

· A+, MCSE , Network+, or other applicable certifications.

· Experience with VM server environments running Windows server platforms.
