Job Summary

The Division of Pediatric Administration at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Systems Administrator. Provides system support and services to manage the Department’s information technology infrastructure. The applicant must have strong diagnostic skills and a desire to continually learn and master new technologies. The Department supports a Microsoft server environment with both Windows and OSX clients. The Systems Administrator performs a wide variety of technical tasks including client and server computer diagnostics, maintenance, new builds, upgrades, software installations, patch management, and working with end users to provide trouble ticket resolutions that align with business metrics.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • 20% – Manage the Department’s Windows Update Server, including evaluating and deploying new updates and patches for client computers and department servers.
  • 20% – Monitor the Encryption Server. Investigate, update, and repair machines that fail to report, ensuring encryption compliance.
  • 20% – Perform system upgrades on department computers and servers.
  • 20% – Diagnose and resolve software-related problems on department computers and servers.
  • 20% – Works with customers and the IS Office team to facilitate new IT projects within the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
