This position maintains the ServiceNow Platform for the University of Utah and University Health. It is responsible to build and implement service catalog items, maintain functionality for the ITSM processes and helps identify and troubleshoot issues in ServiceNow.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients


  • Supports, administrates, and provides maintenance of ServiceNow platform and associated applications.

  • Create custom applications, record producers, catalog items and their associated workflows.

  • Working closely with ServiceNow functional team, configure and improve core and custom applications.

  • Work directly with end users to resolve support issues within ServiceNow.

  • Monitor health, usage and overall compliance of ServiceNow and its applications.

  • Develop systems integrations and process automation.

  • Create and configure Business Rules, UI Policies, UI Actions, Client Scripts and ACLs including advanced scripting of each.

  • Create and configure Notifications, UI pages, UI Macros, Script Includes, Formatters, etc. in ServiceNow.

  • Coordinate application and platform upgrades.

  • Load, manipulate and maintain data between ServiceNow and other systems.

  • Create ServiceNow reports and dashboards.

  • Flexibility to work with a variety of personalities and styles.

  • Must be a self-starter and keen to explore new solutions.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policies.

  • Detail oriented, process focused, ability to learn in a fast paced environment and communicate effectively.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to change control processes in a large production environment.

  • Document and perform the deployment of highly available technologies leveraging replication, load balancing, and geographic clustering.

  • Perform the install and configuration of server hardware including operating system in collaboration with senior Team members.

  • Participate in standard monitoring requirements and scripting or applying additional setting requirements in collaboration with senior Team members.

  • Ability to triage and perform troubleshooting hardware and system level problems.

  • Participate in the architecture and design of systems configurations from system architects.

  • Follow established implementation standards and guidelines in collaboration with senior team members.

  • Performs the documentation of implementation and installation guidelines in collaboration with senior Team members.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to security policies and procedures.




  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalency.

  • Two years of experience in systems administration.
