Job Summary

The Sustainability Office seeks student interns to help promote sustainability at the University of Utah. We define sustainability as the integrated pursuit of social equity, environmental integrity, and economic security for current and future generations. The Sustainability Office’s mission is to integrate sustainability as a core principle throughout all operations, research, disciplines, and curriculum at the University of Utah and to support sustainability initiatives and actions within the campus and community. We engage the campus community through programs that fund innovation, expand knowledge and understanding, and inspire change for a healthy and equitable society.

The communications intern will assist the Sustainability Office in its mission by using social media and other communication tools to reach the University of Utah community. The intern will share sustainability-related news and events, as well as develop campaigns to help other U students engage with the Sustainability Office.

Responsibilities

  • Follow social media guidelines established by the University of Utah and the Sustainability Office;
  • Promote current Sustainability Office projects, programs, and events;
  • Design online campaigns to educate and engage the campus community;
  • Create content, including videos, photos, and stories, for the Sustainability Office social media and the sustainability website;
  • Work with the student sustainability leaders on campus to help promote the services provided by the Sustainability Office;
  • Make presentations, table at campus events, design flyers and other graphics, and participate in outreach activities;
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah Student

Preferences

Must be a University of Utah full-time student. Internships are open to all majors. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and research abilities. Experiences with online content development and social media management for an organization/student group preferred but not required.
