The Sustainability Office seeks multiple student interns to help promote sustainability and manage programs at the University of Utah. We define sustainability as the integrated pursuit of social equity, environmental integrity, and economic security for current and future generations. The Sustainability Office’s mission is to integrate sustainability as a core principle throughout all operations, research, disciplines, and curriculum at the University of Utah and to support sustainability initiatives and actions within the campus and community. We engage the campus community through programs that fund innovation, expand knowledge and understanding, and ignite change for a healthy and equitable society.
Interns assist the Sustainability Office in its mission through project development and implementation, social media, video, photography, marketing, blog writing, event planning, and campus-centric research and focus groups. Most importantly, the interns help the Sustainability Office make programs fun and exciting for the whole campus.
All internships are contingent upon funding availability.
Students selected as Sustainability Ambassadors will be assigned roles that focus on one or more of the following areas:
•Promote current Sustainability Office projects and design additional campaigns to educate and engage the campus community.
•Create content, including videos, photos, and stories, for the Sustainability Office social media and the Sustainable Utah blog;
•Work with the student sustainability leaders on campus to help promote the services provided by the Sustainability Office;
•Make presentations, table at campus events, design flyers, and participate in outreach activities;
•Organize sustainability events;
•Assist in campus surveys and focus groups to provide the Sustainability Office and its partners with additional information about the campus community.
Must be a University of Utah full-time student.
Internships are open to all majors. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and research abilities. Experiences with program development, project management, video creation, and conducting surveys are a plus.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus, but not required for consideration. Spanish-language proficiency a plus.
