Job Summary

In collaboration with the University Developmental Assessment Clinics (UDAC) Operation’s Director, theUDACSupervisor manages the daily clinic workflow and operations of theUDAC, which includes clinics inSLCand Provo, Utah. Responsible for ensuring high quality patient care is given and there is economical and efficient performance. Monitors patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement. TheUDACSupervisor acts as a catalyst between theUDACand its customers, staff, medical providers and others to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.


1.Oversee the day-to-day practice operations, staffing and development of personnel, continuity of services, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, and fostering of interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships among providers and staff. Facilitate cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. Resolves problems and responds to complaints.

2.Monitor patient throughput and operational efficiency, quality of care and customer satisfaction to assure that the patient experience is exceptional. Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.

3.Oversee and manage patient referrals and provider schedules inEPIC. Prepare and disseminate various reports. Train and mentor system users.

4.Ensure competency of staff through training, feedback, professional development and through ongoing staff performance evaluations, staff meetings and regular one-on-one meetings.

5.Help forecast, develop and implement policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, human resources and budgetary goals and objectives for theUDACthat are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.

6.Market and promote new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.

7.DevelopUDACstrategies consistent with the Department’s continuous quality improvement program.

8.Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of related experience with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity. Depending on the area of assignment, related experience could include medical billing and collections, medical records, pre-authorization, admissions, or other related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills essential.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related area, such as Accounting, Business, or Healthcare Management, may be preferred. Some positions may require knowledge of accounting, collections, coding, cash postings, data entry, and/or medical terminology.

•Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related area preferred.

•Supervisory experience in an ambulatory care or medical office setting preferred.

•Prior experience working with infants and children with neurological deficits, including autism.

•Prior use and understanding ofEPIC,EMRsystem.

•Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
