Job Summary

Coordinates research and administrative activities in support of the institutional biobanking research initiative: Huntsman Cancer Institute-Total Cancer Care and the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN.)


The position involves a variety of tasks such as offering enrollment to patients, coordinating with other team members and the Biorepository, entering data and other research related tasks.

The coordinator works under the direction of the Associate Director of Research for Total Cancer Care, consults with the team on project/study issues and/or solicits guidance as necessary. S/he works independently with health care providers and patients.

Essential Functions

1. Coordinates and performs responsibilities such as patient identification, recruitment, and offering enrollment in the Total Cancer Care study. Needs to be present to meet with scheduled surgical patients as early as 6:00 am.

2. Maintains information in patient databases and is responsible for data entry.

3. Recognizes and informs study team of protocol deviations.

4. Assists the Associate Director with Total Cancer Care research related tasks.

5. Works closely with the Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource and investigators and ensures proper collection and processing of specimens.

8. Is responsible to arrange coverage when not present.

9. Performs other responsibilities as required.

He/she prioritizes and helps optimize processes needed to achieve study goals. He/she functions independently under minimal supervision. He/she has an understanding of good clinical practice and research processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalency required.IRBCITICourse in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Some departments may requireIATADGRtraining within six months.

Some research experience.
