Job Summary
The Student Research Assistant will work on a pilot randomized controlled study among patients with heart failure in their homes after hospital discharge. Study participants will be asked about their symptoms and will use the automated symptom monitoring and management system. The Student Research Assistant will assist with participant recruitment in the hospital, education about the system, phone-calls for following up, data collection, data management, and literature review.
We would prefer this position to start in early April or negotiable, and work through summer and additional ongoing semesters.
Responsibilities
Recruit participants at recruitment sites, obtain signed consent forms, provide education about the system, upload and manage data using predetermined software, phone-calls for following up. All other duties as assigned.
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients.
Will need to certify in Good Clinical Practice, CITI program and HIPAA compliance (before beginning work).
Minimum Qualifications
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
Preferences
Experience using statistical software.
Health sciences student with experience in research.
Good communication skills with patients.
