Job Summary

The Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine ( SFE - SOM ) is seeking a Strategic Project Coordinator to assist in the development of a college-wide strategy that aligns with the research strategy of the Office of Associate Vice President for Research for U of U Health. The Strategic Project Coordinator will work with the Strategic Project Manager to assist in developing and implementing a new SFE - SOM strategy and recommend changes when necessary. This position will be responsible for facilitating and scheduling meetings, working closely with faculty and other stakeholders, and tracking performance measures. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational skills, and be disciplined in project management.


1. Assists the Strategic Project Manager and organizational leadership to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine that aligns with the research strategy of the Office of the Associate Vice President for Research for U of U Health.

2. Facilitates and schedules strategic planning meetings, ensuring the participation of key stakeholders and the efficient use of time.

3. Works closely with faculty to understand their needs, perspectives, and ideas, and to ensure their engagement in the strategic planning process.

4. Collaborates with departments and offices within the SFE - SOM and Health Sciences to ensure alignment and synergy in strategic planning efforts.

5. Assists in the communication of the strategic plan to various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

6. Assists in developing and tracking performance measures or KPIs related to the strategic plan.

7. Assists in other project management tasks as needed within the SFE - SOM and Office of the Associate Vice President for Research for U of U Health.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of experience in budget, grant and program management or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Develops and implements program ideas into successful academic and research programs; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
