Job Summary

The Natural History Museum of Utah is seeking an administrative professional to serve as our Staffing and Student Opportunities Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all employment functions with the University of Utah and will also coordinate all opportunities (jobs, internships, scholarships, research grants, volunteer opportunities) for University of Utah students wishing to engage withNHMUas part of their academic experience.

Staffing Coordinator

(1)Assist currentNHMUemployees with all employment matters

(2)Assist hiring managers with job postings, candidate screening and selection, and onboarding

(3)Coordinate payroll approval and other routine tasks

(4)Participate in NHMU’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee as well as other committees and groups as needed

Student Opportunities Coordinator

(1)Primary point of contact for U of U students seeking involvement atNHMU

(2)Work with managers to facilitate offering student internships and student jobs

(3)Understand internship program requirements


(5)Connect other higher education students with opportunities atNHMU

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Previous knowledge of the Natural History Museum of Utah – its history, programs, and operations is preferred. Working knowledge of University of Utah human resource and employment practices is preferred. Knowledge of University of Utah internship program requirements is preferred.
