Job Summary

Performs varied support functions, including gathering and contributing information or materials for research projects.

This position is benefited but is only temporarily funded through June 30th, 2022. The position may be extended based on additional funding.

This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement.

Responsibilities

1.Compiles data from a variety of sources including interviews, literature sources and medical and genealogical records.

2.Enters information into department’s computer system.

3.Assists research employees in preparing manuscripts and presentation materials by creating slides, charts, graphs and handouts.

4.Maintains up to date files and records of research data.

5.Searches sources such as reference works, documents, statistical records and evaluates applicability of collected data to research subject.

6.Drafts correspondence to answer inquiries and responds to requests from agencies about specific projects.

7.Edits research papers, project reports and publication materials.

8.Arranges for the printing and graphic art requirements for printed materials.

9.Maintains an internal library on project information resources and data collected.

10.Performs quality control through path audits in order to resolve discrepancies and overlaps with data.

11.Schedules appointments, visits and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

One year research experience or equivalency; demonstrated organizational and communication skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. An understanding of research protocols and procedures preferred.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Based on the temporary nature of this position the successful candidate will be required to successfully complete an extended 9 month probationary period. Throughout probation employment is “at will” and can be released for business reasons substantiated by the hiring department, subject to review and approval by University Human Resource Management.
