Job Summary

The Sr. Research Manager will support ongoing and future research activities within the Department of Anesthesiology. They will collaborate with principal investigators to assist in planning, organizing, and directing research activities within the Department of Anesthesiology.

Responsibilities

1. Provide support in managing all aspects of conducting clinical research with patients and volunteers within the Department of Anesthesiology.

2. Provide support to investigators in preparing Internal Review Board applications, grant proposals, and manuscripts.

3. Provide support to investigators executing studies, collecting data, performing preliminary data analysis, and data archiving.

4. Provide leadership of research team associates (study coordinators, research nursing staff, residents on research rotation, medical students on research rotation).

5. Educate junior faculty, residents, and medical students regarding core principles of clinical investigation.

6. Attend and participate in department and inter-department research functions.

7. Work with clinical investigators to become familiar with new and existing research areas to identify potential unmet goals and formulate solutions to meet those goals.

8. Market and promote new and existing research opportunities to internal and external customers.

9. Participate in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.

10. Facilitate cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.

11. Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.

12. Develop departmental strategies consistent with the assigned departments continuous quality improvement program.

13. Ensure competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and trainings.

14. May direct the Post-Graduate Annual Update in Anesthesiology conference.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency and 6 years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
