Monday through Friday 8am- 5pm with an hour lunch. CVEEN is participating in campus telecommuting program with one day working remotely.

An evening Zoom call with Pakistan team could occur. Additionally a rare department event participation if additional staff support is needed.

Job Summary

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering ( CVEEN ) is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to join our team. We are seeking someone who is a team player who is communicative, flexible and able to work with multiple teams.

The Senior Accountant will be working with the CVEEN Accounting Team and the USAID HESSA Research Team that is embedded within the department. The effort will be split between the two groups for the duration of the research project, though August 2026. Responsibilities will be to assisting with monthly reporting, projecting balances, research project processing and internal tracking of accounts.

Responsibilities

1. Reconciles department accounts to University books and identifies variances so that corrections can be made.

2. Processes adjustments and transfers on management reports as they are identified.

3. Assists with department budget process and ensures we are reconciled throughout the year.

4. Tracks Evidence of Review completion and follows-up with faculty as needed.

5. Oversees purchase card processing and reconciliation each month. Assists with audit as needed.

6. Assists with USAID HESSA research with reviewing review indirect cost allocations, cost sharing, and journal entries.

7. Manage accounts payable and receivable activities for USAID HESSA subcontracts.

8. Maintain open communication with USAID HESSA Project Director regarding grant management and reporting.

9. Assist with the USAID HESSA monthly financial report and review balances with the Director and other staff. This includes reviewing the monthly data on funding draws from Federal Agencies.

10. Coordinate with HESSA Pakistan Management Unit on purchases and contracts.

11. Implement procedures to communicate, educate, and ensure compliance with policies and applicable grant regulations within the department projects.

12. Monitor compliance with internal policies related to grant funds and any other applicable grant regulations.

13. Assist with department project reporting’s (including USAID HESSA ) and audits.

14. Aids department accounting staff with faculty research accounting responsibilities as needed.

15. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalency, plus two years professional accounting experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices, knowledge of accounting software, advanced spreadsheet skills, the ability to write queries and macros and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.

Certifications as a Certified Public Accountant may be preferred for certain positions.
