Job Summary

Performs complex accounting tasks such as preparing budgets, and reviewing expenditures and income detail. Analyzed general ledger account balances and processed guidance to lover level accounting personnel

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing PeopleSoft general account balances and transactions. Budget reporting to upper management as required and always Monthly and Fiscal Year End.
  • Interprets policies and recommends internal controls.
  • Work independently and in teams.
  • Use of excellent communication skills with co-workers and departments internal and external.
  • Generate reports as required, such as expenditures in a format required by University Budget Office, State Fiscal Analysts and auditors.
  • Initiating and managing financial and accounting spreadsheets/software.
  • Reconciling transactions to PeopleSoft financial reports, Management Reports and PCard Statements.
  • Correcting errors to PeopleSoft financial reports to ensure transactions are being reported accurately.
  • Work with E-rate team to file required FCC forms such as reimbursements from USAC .
  • Input purchase requests into UShop, pay invoices and make corrections/updates as needed.
  • Know the internet/circuit inventory, E-rate, contracts, payments and attend meetings with vendors as needed.
  • Accuracy and a good eye from detail including good record-keeping are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalency, plus two years professional accounting experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices, knowledge of accounting software, advanced spreadsheet skills, the ability to write queries and macros and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.

Certifications as a Certified Public Accountant may be preferred for certain positions.

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Software
  • High level or Excel spreadsheet knowledge
