Job Summary

Supervises daily operations of laboratory equipment preparation and maintenance at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

Signage:

•Preparing, updating and hanging bench/desk labelsHCI-RN &HCI-RS lab areas

oSpatially locating desk assignments

oUpdating space maps in PowerPoint

oUpdating lab desk labels

oUpdating lab bench end cap signage (bi-annually)

oWorking with lab staff to determine any discrepancies

•Hanging radiation identification signs outside lab space inHCI-RN &HCI-RS

oUnder Lab Liaison supervision/authorization by Radiology Health

•Updating space maps forHCI-RN &HCI-RS for incoming/departing labs

oUnder Lab Liaison supervision

Computer Related:

•Updating Lab Resources website through Pulse

•Using Microsoft Office programs for signage, inventories, and presentations

•AccessingHCIApplications for inventory purposes

•UsingHCIRequest systems for Facilities and otherHCIservice requests

Sensaphones (Temperature monitoring devices)

•Maintains Sensaphone master list for 35 Sensaphones (FY18)HCI-RN &HCI-RS

oSensaphone ID & Location

oSensaphone phone # & phone lines

oUser contact names & phone numbers

•Sensaphone install preparation

oLocating freezer and/or user

oIdentifying locations for new Sensaphones

oCreating install paperwork for outside vendor

oWorking with outside vendor to prepare quotes and scheduling of installs

•Updating Sensaphone contact database

oReviewing training emails, Emergency Contacts Lists, and speaking with lab staff for confirmation

oList is updated constantly throughout the year

oWorks with labs using Sensaphones to confirm contact lists annually

•Sending out Sensaphone training reminders

oReviews/updates training logs monthly

oReaches out to remind users of annual training then logging updated training date

•Monthly/bi-annual/annual testing and logging of Sensaphone equipment status

oConfirming equipment function

oConfirming phone line function

oConfirming programmed user information

Equipment Inventory:

•Assisting with shared equipment inventory lists

oWorks with Inventory Clerk to update location and retirement requests

oAssists with redistribution lists, assignments, and moving of equipment

oMonitors ‘Garage Sale’ inventory list

oReviews and physically identifies capital and non-capital equipment under the General Research custodial group (quarterly)

General Research manages 200 pieces of tagged inventory

•Contacting vendors for service contract related repairs/PMs

oWorking with labs to determine problem

oGathering quotes if equipment is not under service contract

oScheduling repairs with vendors and affected labs

•Assisting with annual University of Utah freezer insurance inventory and Risk Management inventory forHCI-RN &HCI-RS

oHCIresearch buildings contain 170 insured freezers (FY18)

oHCI-RN &HCI-RS contains more than 300 total freezers (FY18)

Lab Onboarding/Departures:

•Assisting with lab closure procedures

oRedistribution and/or proper disposal of chemical/biohazard/lab equipment

oAssists with move-out checklists

oAssists with confirmation checklists are completed by lab

•Assisting with incoming lab procedures

oWorking with incoming PIs on space planning, needed training,HCIcontacts and policies, and U of U contacts and policies

Miscellaneous:

•Meeting with vendors/installers for badge access for lab equipment repairs/installs or meeting room access

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalency, and three years related experience required. Strong customer service skills preferred.
