Job Summary

UIT -University Support Services has an immediate opening for a Software QA Automation Specialist. The QA Automation Specialist will work with a team providing automation testing for applications within UIT . The QA Automation Specialist:

• Maintains and enhances the USS QA automation framework as approved by management

• Develops, publishes, and implements automation test plans

• Writes and maintains test automation scripts

• Helps define and track QA automation metrics

• Leads a group of student Interns who help in QA automation testing efforts.

This is a Category IIA position: Not required on campus and able to telework during the duration of the University’s COVID -19 response. Employees and/or functions where employees are able to work remotely in order to maintain campus systems, campus operations, clinical operations, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Working with the QA functional team leads, meeting with business users and technical analysts develop test/use cases to be automated based on customer requirements and definitions

• Develop & document automation test plans for each project/release

• Through automation, help validate the functionality of delivered code and verify that data inserts, updates and deletes are accurate

• Create automated testing scripts using approved USS QA tools

• Participate in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews

• Create automation testing reports to communicate testing results to management

• Performs a variety of tasks working under general supervision and reporting to Associate Director of QA.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Experience typically includes coding in C, C++, Java. Must have a working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.

Department Specific Requirements:

Of the 2-4 years of experience, 1-3 years of Ruby/Mine and Selenium or other similar automation/testing tools.

Able to do basic SQL queries and database updates.

Experience with the implementation of applications in a UNIX /Oracle environment and experience in Web Deployment tools (such as Jenkins).

Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle and Agile development methodologies.

Familiarity with SQL , VM’s, JIRA , Docker and HTML are a plus.

Preferences

Experience with PeopleSoft Test Framework, 1-3 years of experience coding SQL and running queries. Have a working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies. Familiar with Windows, UNIX and/or Solaris environments. 1-2 years of experience coding in C, C++, Java or Python.
