Job Summary

Wellness and Integrative Health is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Social Worker. This individual will help to develop mindfulness and resilience programs for both University of Utah Health employees and patients and will report to the Associate Director of the Resiliency Center in collaboration with the Operations Manager of Wellness and Integrative Health. Wellness and Integrative Health supports internal and external wellness initiatives. The Resiliency Center, as a component of Wellness and Integrative Health enhances resilience and coordinates wellness efforts among all faculty and staff within University of Utah Health. The Social Worker will assist in creating, strengthening, and expanding programs specifically related to mindfulness, positive psychology, as well as individual, group and peer support. This position is contingent on funding approval.

Responsibilities

•Assist with maintenance of current Resiliency Center mindfulness and resilience programming, including drop-in introduction to mindfulness classes and resilience trainings

•Develop and expand Resiliency Center mindfulness and resilience programming, with specific focus on offering mindfulness to University of Utah Health employees working in downtown Salt Lake City and the community clinics, and to various patient populations

•Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of brief resilience exercise interventions

•Develop and provide stress management/wellness treatment plans for employees and/or outpatient populations

•Provide brief counseling, including both individual and group intervention, to patients and/ or employees

•Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school by the council on Social Work; current licensure to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah. Demonstrated human relations and effective verbal and written communication skills; and proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, problem solve and resolve conflicts for individuals, couples and groups.

Preferences

Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school by the council on Social Work plus two years of related experience or equivalency, and current licensure to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah. Other qualifications include:

•Demonstrated knowledge of resilience, mindfulness, positive psychology, and wellness concepts

•Experience leading mindfulness classes

•Experience working in healthcare, an academic setting, or a similar environment

•Ability to work independently, manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of individuals, which include faculty and staff, and professionals from other institutions and professional associations.

•Highly developed sense of empathy and humor
