Overview

Position Summary

A Lead Principal Software Engineer on the ServiceNow Platform team. This position participates in and provides leadership and oversight on all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle: Analysis, Design, Development, Quality Assurance, Deployment, Training and Operational Support within ServiceNow. They work in an agile team utilizing scrum methodology to deliver value to customers through the development and implementation of user stories. Performs routine and complex system maintenance tasks, including hardware and software monitoring, system recovery and performance tuning on the Service Management system. Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems. Ensures computer equipment, hardware, and software are updated to meet departmental needs and improve efficiency. Will often mentor other developers on the team regarding complex system tasks. Assists in training efforts for the team. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Participates in and often functions in a lead capacity in the Software Development Lifecycle process through requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing and validation in the Service Management system.

  • Works in an integrated team environment of engineers and others and utilizes scrum methodology in development and implementation.

  • Works collaboratively with manager and leadership in support of strategic initiatives.

  • Expected to become proficient in all technologies that we administer in our ServiceNow platform.

  • Ensures the performance of the applications coded from development to production.

  • Installs and migrates object changes through multiple test environments and production.

  • Works on complex projects.

  • Develops and implements recovery plans and procedures.

  • Installs, upgrades and tests complex software.

  • Works with team members to maintain technical skills, mentors staff.

  • Works with customers to maintain relations and understand needs.

  • Works in multiple projects simultaneously which spans multiple applications releases.

  • Participates in on call rotation.

  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Must have web development experience as Sr developer.

  • Demonstrated experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Linux, Windows and stays abreast of emerging technologies.

  • Solid understanding of SDLC and ITIL.

  • Excellent knowledge of experience with scrum methodology.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to model solutions effectively.

  • Effective project management and coordination skills.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to manage an organization's architectures, data resources, polices, practices and procedures to appropriately and effectively address business and stakeholder's needs.

  • Knowledge of how to collect data from different information sources and distribute them to users; ability to use this information to simplify information systems and make sound business decisions.

  • Knowledge of and the ability meet business needs.

  • Strong judgment and management skills.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Technologies, Engineering or Science.

  • Six years of WEB and software development experience.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • 5+ years in ServiceNow development

  • Certified ServiceNow Systems Administrator

  • Certified ServiceNow Application Developer

  • Certified ServiceNow Implementation Specialist

  • JavaScript

  • ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, FSM, IRM
