The Section of Hematopathology at the University of Utah is seeking a board-certified AP/CP pathologist with board certification/eligibility in hematopathology at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Expertise in the interpretation of peripheral blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes is essential. The successful candidate will possess strong morphologic diagnostic skills and be proficient in the use of flow cytometry, cytogenetic, and molecular techniques used in the clinical work-up of cases. This position will have an emphasis on flow cytometry with additional clinical opportunities on molecular, genomic, hemoglobinopathy, and/or morphology services. Duties will include teaching pathology residents and hematopathology fellows, participating in hematopathology clinical services, and promoting the academic mission of the department.
The Hematopathology Section at the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories offers diagnostic consultative services and a comprehensive testing menu for the evaluation of hematologic disorders including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, cytogenetics, specialized coagulation testing, hemoglobin evaluation, molecular diagnostics, and genomics. The section offers an ACGME -accredited fellowship program in hematopathology. The faculty consist of nationally and internationally known experts whose expertise spans many different subspecialties of hematopathology. An integrated approach is utilized to provide patients at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Center as well as national reference laboratory clients with services ranging from test interpretation and selection to comprehensive diagnosis. The hematopathology section processes approximately 4,500 tissue cases per year. In addition, high volume, state of the art services in the areas of coagulation, hemoglobin analysis, flow cytometric analysis, and molecular and genomic hematopathology are managed by the hematopathology faculty.
