Job Summary

The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator is responsible for the overall management and operations of the MC platform in University Information Technology ( UIT ). This role will help drive adoption of Marketing Cloud across the university landscape, working closely with the business stakeholders to implement solutions that meet business needs in a way that will scale well within an enterprise environment. As a key part of the IT team, this position is expected to be comfortable working in multiple roles such as part Business Analyst, part Quality Assurance, and part Salesforce CRM Administrator, while simultaneously serving as the team’s marketing automation expert.

  • Onboard, train, and support University of Utah units and users to Salesforce Marketing Cloud in collaboration with other team members.
  • Develop advanced Salesforce configurations, templates, and queries to meet customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Play a lead role in creating strategy and practice within Salesforce Marketing Cloud and support transitions from legacy marketing communication systems.
  • Translate business requirements into creative and effective technical designs.
  • Serve as the “go-to” technical contact for marketing automation users.
  • Increase Salesforce utilization while minimizing costs, reducing complexity, identifying improvements, and increasing collaboration. Support development and implementation of communication efforts.
  • Formulate and implement digital strategies and tactics for email, mobile, and web including nurturing programs, campaign management, prospect lifecycle integration with Salesforce, and reporting on lead flow/progress.
  • Implement and maintain integrations with other IT systems, including Salesforce CRM , Peoplesoft, WSO2, LDAP /MS Active Directory, SAML / SSO using technologies such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud Connector, FTP , and APIs.
  • Aid in managing email deliverability, database hygiene, subscription management, and compliance with university policy on opt-in/out & CAN - SPAM compliance.
  • Oversee and analyze new data in Marketing Cloud and advise on data use for targeting, personalization, configuration, strategy, and reporting.
  • Assist in Preference Center development and implementation.
  • Coordinate with Salesforce, support vendors, and internal IT staff to troubleshoot, apply, support, and promote new features, upgrades, and patches.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of conversations with users, system configuration changes, etc.
  • Develop documentation of current processes and future enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications

Require a bachelor’s degree in a related area, or equivalency, and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator certification
  • 3+ years of experience as a Salesforce ExactTarget/Marketing Cloud Technical Admin
  • 2+ years of experience with the following:
  • Creating business requirement documents, to capture customer needs and recommend software solutions, using tools such as wireframes, diagrams, workflows, and mockups
  • Working with large data sets
  • Salesforce CRM
  • HTML , XML , CSS , JavaScript
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with users and university executives
  • Ability to analyze complex use cases, clarify ambiguous requirements, and provide team effort estimates
  • Energetic and enthusiastic ability to identify and analyze issues and offer possible solutions through data-driven thinking
  • Customer service mindset with a focus on getting things done
  • Ability to manage multiple short-term and long-term projects simultaneously, individually and as part of a team

  • Successful professional experience working in higher education with IT services, products, and support
  • Familiarity with the Salesforce EDA data model and/or Salesforce Service Cloud
