Job Summary
The Ayer lab at Huntsman Cancer Institute seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated and hard-working lab specialist to join our research team. We are focused on understanding the role of Myc family transcription factors in growth, metabolism and tumorigenesis. Responsibilities
The successful applicant for this position will have experience in cell culture, molecular biology (e.g. PCR , Gibson cloning), CRISPR gene editing methods, and chromatin immunoprecipitation. Proficiency in SDS - PAGE and Western blotting is also required. Understanding bioinformatic approaches and methods for analyzing next generation sequencing data is also a plus. About 20% of the successful applicant’s time will be spent on general lab management, including but not limited to lab ordering, database management and reagent shipping and assisting with regulatory compliance
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field plus four years of experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in a biological science plus a minimum of 3 years F/T lab experience.
• Skilled in the use of complex laboratory equipment; the ability to make statistical calculations, critically evaluate primary literature, analyze results and prepare reports; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also strongly preferred.
