The Bass Laboratory in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Utah seeks a Research Associate to take a leadership role in designing, performing, and supervising biochemistry and molecular biology experiments involving double-strandedRNAbinding proteins such as Dicer.
The ideal candidate will be adept at, and interested in, acquiring mechanistic insight from results of biochemistry and molecular biology experiments. Experiments using biochemistry and molecular biology techniques will be the main focus, but opportunities to collaborate with structural biologists, and participate in experiments using C. elegans or mammalian cells may arise.

•express and purify proteins
•supervise and coordinate efficient laboratory maintenance and operation
•supervise students and technical support
•assist in writing reports, manuscripts and grants
Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field. Experience in protein purification is required, and familiarity with baculovirus expression systems preferred. Previous experience inRNAbiochemistry would be helpful.
