Job Summary

The University of Utah is seeking applicant to run a metabolic physiology core that helps laboratories perform specialized procedures for monitoring glucose and lipid homeostasis, energy expenditure, respirometry, blood chemistry, and cardiac and renal function in preclinical models of disease. Experience working with rodents—including conducting survival surgeries—is desired. The successful applicant will have strong written and oral communication skills and be expected to enlarge the core by writing shared instrument grants and contributing to program project and center grants. A key attribute will be the ability to work well with users and train them on complicated procedures.

Responsibilities

Design the appropriate assays to assess metabolic phenotype in cell and animal models.

Assist in the interpretation of a variety of metabolic phenotyping assays.

Develop, acquire and implement new technologies and adaptations to meet the needs of consumers.

Ability to perform and interpret the results from metabolic chambers, Seahorse and clamps experiments preferred.
