Job Summary

Our lab performs cutting edge research studying human neuropsychiatric disorders using patient-specific stem cells and stem cell-derived neurons. The goal of our research is to understand the causes of these disorders and to find new treatments for patients. The research assistant will work under the direct supervisor of an experience lab member on different experiments involved cell and molecular biology related techniques.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain cultured cells

2. Perform genotyping

3. Perform PCR , qRT- PCR , and gel electrophoresis

4. Perform Western blot

5. Perform immunostaining

6. Report results to the group

Nearly Continuously: Lab environment.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency; one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

1. BS or MS in Biology related field

2. At least 2 years of experience working with cultured cells

3. At least 2 years of experience with molecular biology techniques

4. Excellent communication skills

5. Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
