Interventional Radiologist

Description: The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, University of Utah is seeking aCAQcertified, fellowship trained Interventional Radiologist to join its expanding Interventional Radiology (IR) section. IR faculty are expected to lead and develop specific clinical services, participate in an IR call pool, initiate or participate in research projects, and actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows. In addition to routine interventional radiology procedures, the section offers robust programs in interventional oncology, complex transplant, and hepatobiliary intervention as well as in new theranostic procedures. There is an outstanding residency program in the Department and an accredited IR training program. The Department and medical centers offer significant research opportunities. The interventional radiology faculty currently consists of seven faculty members and an outstanding group of physician assistant, nurse practitioner, technologists, and nurses. Depending on the candidate’s academic and clinical experience, a section and/or departmental leadership position will also be considered.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in all aspects of IR operations. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. Evidence of prior academic work is strongly desired. It is expected that this individual will contribute to a collegial environment that will promote the growth of the section in the alignment with the department goals. The academic appointment will be at a rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Facilities and Institution: The section provides clinical services at the University Hospital, VA medical center, and the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, anNCI-designated premier cancer center. Outstanding resources include a new CT biopsy suite, IR-MRIsuite, and upcoming new 2-floor IR suite in the main hospital. Extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRIs, dual-energy CTs, andPET-CT scanners are also available for clinical work and research. The Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) in the Department offers world-class research opportunities in advanced medical imaging. Research C-arm for pre-clinical studies is available for interventional radiology research. There is an active high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) program. The University of Utah Health Sciences offer various leadership programs and training opportunities for faculty members. Location: The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothill of the Wasatch Mountains at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains.
