Job Summary

The QA Test Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting web-based tools created by the University Faculty Information & Support ( UFIS ) team, which are utilized daily by staff, faculty, department and college administrators and University leadership. Position responsibilities include test automation, test scripting and manual testing.

Responsibilities

· Designs, modifies, develops, writes, tests, and implements software test applications following general guidelines and accepted technical approaches using Java/Selenium, Postman, Jmeter and other tools.

· Performs tasks in the design, development, testing, and implementation periods of the software life cycle, including the analysis and investigation of tasks, the definition of design specifications and parameters, development and application of standard routines and utility programs to deliver features, and functionality according to pre-defined acceptance criteria.

· Utilizes Jira to identify prioritized work, record resolutions of each, and effectively report status on all work being done within a sprint.

· Documents test scripts, test plans, testing results and associated bugs within the team’s test management tool.

· Participates in Agile Scrum team processes and rituals including daily standups, sprint estimations, retrospectives and other team functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must have a working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies. Familiar with NT, UNIX and/or Solaris environments.

Preferences

Six years related experience or equivalency (1 year of college education is equivalent to 2 years of related work experience). Bachelor’s degree in a related area is preferred. Demonstrated experience in quality assurance test automation with strong knowledge of QA methodology, test strategy and test planning. Proficient in Java, Javascript, SQL , API Testing, Postman, Continuous Integration and Agile methodologies. Ability to coordinate activities and manage multiple priorities, working both independently and as a team member. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Experience writing test scripts and coding test automation in an Agile Scrum work environment.
