Job Summary

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work on our team. The ideal candidate is someone who has been practicing as a Physician Assistant for at least one year and who has experience with cardiac patients.

Responsibilities

Participate in daily clinic or inpatient rounds (M-F) on the HF/Transplant/ VAD service

- participate in weekend call

- coordinate care across specialties

- ensure discharge criteria are met

- ensure timely discharges take place

- work with case managers to ensure effective post-acute care planning

- ensure consistent communication with referring providers

- work closely with CVMU nurses, preventive care services and providers to identify opportunities for reduction of readmission rate

- identify opportunities for improved patient satisfaction

- work closely with team to determine whether variations in inpatient and outpatient care result in opportunities for changes aimed increasing value of care provided on the HF service.

-the APC will complement a group of 3 other APCs who are part of the HF team; a rotation of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities will be implemented among the APC team.

Minimum Qualifications

Current licensure to practice as a Physician’s Assistant from the State of Utah. Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred.

To obtain licensure requires graduation from an ARC -PA approved/accredited Physician Assistant program. Specialty experience preferred on a position by position basis. UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences

One year of experience as a physician assistant.

Cardiology experience and/or interest preferred.
