Job Summary

Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ) or Medical Assistant (MA) or six months of vaccine experience preferred.

Supports RAIVEN , RECOVER , PROTECT , and other funded research projects. This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Flexible schedule to accommodate participants: M-F, evenings, weekends. This position collects, and prepares specimens for the laboratory, and maintains accurate medical records of specimens at multiple draw sites.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

This position will require travel from Ogden to Provo. As a patient-focused organization, the University of Utah Health Sciences exists to enhance the health and well-being of people through patient care, research, and education. Success in this mission requires a culture of collaboration, excellence, leadership, and respect.

This position travels to clinics, participant homes and/or workplaces, collects data, administers flu vaccines before flu season starts, collects and processes blood, and assists with other research related tasks as needed.

Enters and retrieves computer data.

May check client picture identification and obtain photographs and fingerprints.

Problem Solving

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

Six months of phlebotomy experience or Phlebotomy Technician certification.
