Job Summary

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is seeking a highly engaged advanced practice provider to support an expanding inpatient cardiovascular medicine service. This position provides general medicine and cardiovascular specialty. This position will be required to order medications and procedures within their scope of practice.

  • Daytime shifts only. No call (outside of regular working hours).
  • Exact schedule TBD but anticipated to be 5 days on followed by 5 days off (including weekends and holidays), alternating with counterpart APC provider.
  • Position will include an on-boarding process involving internal medicine, general cardiology, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology, pulmonary hypertension, and interventional post-procedural management.
  • It is anticipated that the candidate will function with greater attending oversight initially, but practice with increasing independence with accrued experience.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assesses the physical condition of assigned patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
  2. Formulates the medical plan based on patient’s condition.
  3. Consults with other providers as needed regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
  4. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s health care needs.
  5. Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
  6. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
  7. Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
  8. Participates in quality improvement activities.
  9. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
  10. Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
  11. Participates in continuing medical education activities.
  12. Assists in the collection of data for research projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Preferred

Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.

Utah State prescriptive privileges.

Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.

UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
