Job Summary

This position is for a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to support research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health ( NIH ). The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of patient research activities, including regulatory procedures, general conduct of clinical research, and possibly required to conduct procedures within their scope of practice and according to State Law (I.V. blood draw, medication administration). This person will become part of an interdisciplinary research team dedicated to conducting rigorous clinical trials to identify effective, treatments to offset the physical and metabolic consequences of physical disuse on older adults.

Responsibilities

1. Monitor and manage patient recruitment, enrollment, and tracking including strategies to meet enrollment and compliance goals.

2. Coordinate and perform responsibilities related to research patients including screening and recruiting, coordinating patient visits with clinical research center, obtaining informed consent, answering participant inquiries, patient follow up, overseeing study visits and acting as a liaison between participants, the clinical research center, and research staff and study physicians.

3. Oversee compliance to study protocols

4. Recognize, track and report adverse events and protocol deviations.

5. Prepare, submit, and maintain regulatory documents for the IRB , NIH , and FDA .

6. Prepare for study audits during course and at the close of a research study.

7. May perform procedures within the scope of practice and according to State Law (e.g., I.V. blood draw)

Minimum Qualifications

Required

Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

Two years general nursing experience.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

One year of directly related experience in an area of specialty is preferred.

Some positions may require additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ), Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program ( NRP ) within one year of hire.
