Job Summary

Professional Education, as part of Online and Continuing Education at the University of Utah offers a robust catalog of short term, skills-based education programs that compliment and build on the skills of working professionals interested in boosting or pivoting their careers. Professional Education serves of 2500 students a year with more than 39 programs.

The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with department staff and University academic departments staff to plan and implement activities of a program within a department, ensuring goals and objectives are in accordance with established criteria. They are involved in scheduling courses, hiring, onboarding, and paying instructors, ensuring systems data is accurate, supporting financial transfers and expenditures, supporting marketing efforts, and providing student support, as needed. They support the University of Utah’s Online and Continuing Education’s goals and mission including creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all peoples and representative of the communities we serve.

This position is an integral member of the program and student services team in Professional Education. This coordinator will work collaboratively with colleagues who oversee student services, program development, and program improvement. This coordinator will also work across teams with systems administrators, operations, and many other departments to advance a comprehensive and successful approach to program implementation. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Professional Education.

Responsibilities

- Oversees daily program operations and activities

- Oversees relationships with associate instructors

- Monitors program outcomes

- Implements program goals and objectives

- Monitors effectiveness and researches improvement methods

- Advises staff, students, and others regarding program policies, goals and technical issues

- Prepares reports on program status and management

- Writes and edits program related publications and promotional materials

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education).

Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences

- Two or more years related experience

- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business, or another related field

- Bilingual preferred
