This position will help design and execute an environmentally preferred purchasing program with an emphasis on product selection for economic cost savings, social impact, and environmental sustainability. This position will aid in purchasing products and services that integrate with environmental factors, social factors, and economic factors. This position will report to the Director of Value Analysis, and will receive strategic direction from a collaborative multi-departmental team including: the Director of Environmental & Social Sustainability, Medical Director of Environmental & Social Sustainability, Director of Community Engagement. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a sustainable procurement strategy and goals.

  • Assesses current sustainability purchasing practices, and researches opportunities related to cost savings and environmental impacts.

  • Collaborates with hospital administration, departments, and medical staff to facilitate and support sustainability and value analysis objectives.

  • Facilitates and prioritizes multiple projects with Value Analysis and Sustainability team.

  • Manages value analysis data for outcome documentation and educational processes.

  • Coordinates product and purchased service evaluation processes including life cycle cost and total cost of ownership.

  • Leverages data in order to conduct comprehensive analyses, data mine, identify benchmarks and trends.

  • Facilitates projects, including but not limited to Practice Greenhealth, Healthcare Anchor Network, and STARS.

  • Reports status on projects and timelines for analytics.

  • Embeds sustainability into pre-purchasing, purchasing and post-purchasing processes.

  • Reviews contracts to prevent potential disputes and financial risks.

  • Analyzes contract clauses, stipulations, obligations, and liabilities.

  • Recommends and draft contract provisions and amendments.

  • Reviews supplier contract terms and conditions.

  • Ensures that contract terms comply with legal requirements and policies.

  • Advises internal departments on contract compliance.

  • Documents processes and maintaining files.

  • Ability to prepare written and verbal communications for projects.

  • Experience with Word and Excel (ability to create pivot charts, v-lookups, diagrams, graphs etc.) needed.

  • Ability to review and update contract terms and conditions.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health or sustainability related specialty or equivalent.

  • Five years of related experience.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in health, business, or environmental specialty.

  • Licensure as a registered nurse.

  • Clinical experience, with perioperative or O.R. experience particularly preferred.

  • Experience conducting product evaluation, cost benefit analysis, and financial feasibility studies.

  • Sustainability reporting, including Practice Greenhealth preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
