This position is responsible to assist with the preparation for and set up of meal service and prepares food items for patients, cafeteria, delis, catering and Starbucks.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up service area for meal service according to the menu for the day.

  • Ensures that meal service and delivery needs are met.

  • Ensures that menu items are followed as per recipe.

  • Prepares sandwiches, salads, garnishes, fruit and vegetables for all applicable areas.

  • Cleans work area.

  • Slices meats and cheeses, prepares fresh vegetables and fruits, and provides condiments, as assigned.

  • May be assigned to back up other production staff with other cooking responsibilities.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated human relations, computer literacy and effective communication skills.

  • Ability to organize and facilitate functions with minimal notice.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating heavy mechanized equipment including slicers, mixers, blenders, steam kettles, fryers, and choppers.

  • Ability to comply with departmental policies regarding attendance and undergo periodic evaluations.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Six months of food service, customer service experience, or equivalency.

Licenses Required

  • One of the following

  • Current Utah Food Handler Permit.

  • Current Food Protection Manager certification, accredited by ANSI.

* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience as a prep cook.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving equipment or objects. This position is subject to hot or cold tempatures and may be subject to hazards with equipment or cleaning chemicals.
