Job Summary

AnNIHsupported post-doctoral position is open in the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Division in the Helms laboratory. The lab investigates post-translational regulation of epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) using single channel patch clamp analysis and biomolecular assays.

The ideal candidate will:

1) conduct electrophysiological recordings of ion channels located on lung epithelia

2) model lung injury using small laboratory animal models, and

3) measure redox potentials and oxidative signaling in primary lung epithelia. In addition to conducting investigative research, the post-doctoral position will also be responsible for analyzing outcomes and preparing figures for publication.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

PhD in a scientific field

Experience in cell signaling assays, molecular biology, tissue culture, western blot analysis, and scientific software preferred.

Willing to train the candidate in electrophysiology and small animal non-survival surgeries.
