Job Summary

The Wang Research Group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Utah is looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher. This industry-funded project is focused on new, environment-friendly polymer materials for electronics applications such as wearable devices. This is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate to break new ground in innovative science, and build a research program that can launch their independent career.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will develop recyclable and/or degradable, heavily aromatic polymer materials. In particular, this position will master synthesizing new monomers and polymers, optimizing their properties, and targeting their performances in electronic devices.

Work safely and independently in a wet laboratory setting.

Plan and execute research in collaboration internal and external stakeholders.

Communicate scientific results effectively, both in oral presentations and high-impact publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

Must have obtained a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or closely related areas.

Strong record of quality peer-reviewed publications.

Experience in conjugated polymer synthesis and characterization.

In-depth experience with polymer characterization techniques (e.g. FTIR , NMR , TGA , DSC , DMA , Dielectric analysis).

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
