Job Summary

The Sorenson Center for Discovery and Innovation at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business is inviting applications for a two-year postdoctoral position. The postdoctoral scholar will work with faculty conducting innovation related research, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical industry. Scholars will also be expected to continue their own research with the intent of publishing in leading academic journals.

Successful candidates should have a well-demonstrated interest in innovation and a strong background in applied econometric’s. Candidates are expected to have completed their Ph.D. in strategy or economics by summer 2020. The appointment is for two years, with an option to extend a third and does not include any teaching obligations. Start date is negotiable but anticipated to be July 1, 2020. Scholars are expected to be in residence during their tenure, participate in seminars and contribute to the broader intellectual community. In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package scholars will be provided an allowance for research/conference related expenses.

Responsibilities

•Collaborate with faculty on innovation research, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical industry.

•Continue to conduct independent research with the intent of publishing in leading journals.

•Participate in departmental seminars and brown bags along with attending local conferences.

•Assist faculty with local conferences, as needed.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

•Ph.D. in strategy or economics (to be completed by summer 2020)

•Strong training in applied econometrics

•Demonstrated interest in innovation research

Preferences

•Proficiency in Python

•Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team;

•Strong oral and written communication skills;

•Strong attention to detail;
