This is an exciting Postdoctoral position available for a motivated scientist to study mechanisms associated with abnormal angiogenesis in ocular diseases. The main opportunities in the laboratory include investigating mechanisms of vascularity and abnormal angiogenesis using both rat and mouse models of oxygen-induced retinopathy. Part of this position will involve researching literature, animal model experiment design, collection of data, and analysis through capillary density and quantification of features from retinal flat mounts, western blotting, real-timePCR, molecular biology and gene therapy techniques, in vitro work, transfection and creation of mutants for cells, cell isolation, in vivo imaging using Micron IV and spectral domain optical coherence tomography, functional analyses with electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry with double labeling, data analysis, preparation and reports.
The post-doctoral fellow will have opportunities to write articles, grants,IACUCrequests and amendments, and participate in lab safety reports. There will be opportunities to attend educational seminars at the John A. Moran Eye Center, throughout the School of Medicine and at the University of Utah. Presentation at research meetings and to contribute to scientific articles as co-and/or first author is expected.

2.Demonstrate effective communication skills ; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
3.Collaborate with Research Assistant Professor, with other Postdoctoral employees and with other laboratory technicians
4.Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students
Candidates must have a PhD and proven research experience in experimental design with controls. Preference is for individuals with molecular, cell culture and animal experience and with experience in ophthalmic research.
