Job Summary

A postdoctoral research fellow position is available immediately at the University of Utah to conduct biomedical research using pre-clinical rodent and cell culture models. The selected candidate will study the vascular effects of berry anthocyanins with special emphasis on the microbial metabolites, gut microbiome and the molecular signaling mechanisms involved. This position would be in the laboratory of Dr. Anandh Babu Pon Velayutham, Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology.

The Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology at the University of Utah (https://health.utah.edu/nutrition-integrative-physiology) houses an active group of researchers, educators, and trainees dedicated to understanding how maintenance of metabolic health combats the development and progression of aging-associated vascular dysfunction, and chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. We maintain active engagement with other programs within University of Utah Health (e.g., Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center; Molecular Medicine Program; Center on Aging).

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

A PhD in the areas of Molecular Biology/ Immunology / Biochemistry /Cell Biology / Nutrition and Food Sciences / Physiology or equivalent degree is required. Candidates with previous experience in chromatography, standard cell and molecular biology procedures, gut microbiome analysis, vascular function analysis, and animal handling will be highly considered. The successful applicant will be expected to design/ conduct experiments under minimal supervision, clearly document results and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts.
