Job Summary

Dr. Charles R. Rogers with the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine is excited to announce the availability of a postdoctoral research associate position in cancer disparities with the Public Health Division.

This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement.

Responsibilities

Tentatively starting June 15, 2021 (pending University approval), there will be one remote opening for a 1-2 year postdoctoral research fellow position in the Men’s Health Inequities Research Lab ( MHIRL ). Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, or a related field. Strong quantitative analytical and writing skills are required. Research experience in social determinants of health, multilevel modeling, social and behavioral sciences, health policy, demography , and/or health disparities highly desirable. Experience in SAS , R, or Stata is required.

The fellow who fills this position in Dr. Rogers’ Men’s Lab is innovative in not only permitting the ability to establish research independently, but also in focusing on intervention development and implementation to reduce cancer disparities among underrepresented communities; in focusing on education and experience in community-based participatory research; and in providing purpose-driven mentoring. The fellow will report to Dr. Rogers. The fellow’s performance is evaluated and funding for the next year depends on the progress made.
