Job Summary

The Division of General Pediatrics in the University of Utah, School of Medicine is seeking a Portal Family Content Editor to oversee a content section of the Medical Home Portal (, a web site aimed at providing information and resources for clinicians and families to improve the healthcare and outcomes of children, especially those with special health care needs. The incumbent will manage the development and periodic updating of content written for families in the Medical Home Portal; collaborate with family experts in writing and updating content; edit content in collaboration with the Portal’s Manager and Director; and oversee and manage content entry and quality within the Portal’s electronic author/administrative interface.


•Collaborate with authors in writing and editing family content

•Manage development of new family content

•Manage updating and revision of existing family content

•Track the status and coordinate the workflow for development, review, and updating of family content

•Coordinate the efforts of authors and reviewers as needed

•Oversee and perform content entry within the Portal’s administrative interface

•Manage the quality of family content, continually improving its clarity, conciseness, and visual effectiveness

•Interact with individuals with differing knowledge bases, including family experts and parent/consumer advisors

•Balance multiple projects and tasks

•Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalency with two years related experience required. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

•Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to writing, editing, administration, biologic science, or health education

•Two years of editorial or publishing experience

•Two years of project management experience

•Experience in technical, research, or literary writing

•Knowledge of and experience in using community non-profit and human services

•Ability to prioritize and work on several tasks simultaneously

•Computer literacy

•Experience with spreadsheets/databases
