Job Summary

Do you have a love of Utah history, Mormon history, and/or the history of the West? If so, this position is perfect for you. As a Photograph Processor in Multimedia Archives, you will assist in the arrangement, description, and digitization of photograph collections related to these histories. You be part of a team dedicated to preserving these important histories.

The successfully hired candidate will be expected to continue their employment for a minimum of two semesters.

Responsibilities

Assist senior staff with processing photograph collections housed in the Multimedia’s print and digital archives; reference desk shifts on regular schedule including some Saturdays; arrangement and description of collections based on standard archival practices; identification of items needing conservation treatments; assist senior staff with outreach exhibits and events; digitizing photographs to meet archival standards; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.

Knowledge and interest in:

- Utah history, Mormon history, and the history of the West.

- Photography.

- On-line experience.

- Photograph scanning and Photoshop skills.

- Word processing.

- Ability to write clearly.

- Excellent customer service skills.

- Detail-oriented.

- Ability to lift and move 30 lbs.

- Previous library experience.
