The Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting a board certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology physician to join the Division with the opportunity for leadership of the Leukemia Lymphoma program. The physician will provide clinical patient care services to patients with cancer and blood disorders focusing on leukemias/lymphomas; and will engage in a multidisciplinary pediatric leukemia/lymphoma clinic and manage care of patients in the outpatient clinic and inpatient unit. In addition to clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work with opportunities in education, investigation, administration as well as advocacy.

The Division is made up of 15 pediatric oncologists and 3 PhD investigators who focus in one of 4 areas – Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, or Pediatric Cancer Genetics. The program sees over 200 newly diagnosed children annually between the ages of 0 and 21 years of age. Within Oncology, there are 10 physicians with varying levels of clinical, research, and programmatic leadership responsibility with the areas of leukemia/lymphoma, neurooncology, blastomas, and sarcomas. The inpatient unit has 33 private patient rooms where all Hem/Onc patients are admitted. Inpatients are overseen by 3 Hem/Onc services – an inpatient attending/resident/fellow H/O service, a chemotherapy attending/advanced practitioner service, and aBMTservice. All medical, pathology, radiologic and surgical subspecialties are represented in the children’s hospital. Clinical, translational and basic laboratory research programs and opportunities are available in the Department of Pediatrics and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, aNCIdesignated comprehensive cancer center connected toPCH. There are ongoing projects in value based care, supportive oncology/palliative care, clinical trials, cancer genetics, laboratory research, outcomes, late effects andAYAprograms.

Qualified candidates must be Board Qualified/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology with focused training in pediatric oncology, including leukemia and lymphoma. Qualified candidates should also have a clinical and research (laboratory, translational, or clinical) focus in pediatric leukemia/lymphoma. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
