The Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Utah is recruiting for a Pediatric Intensivist, whose primary focus will be laboratory investigation integrated with the Molecular Medicine Program at the University of Utah (75%). Clinical responsibilities will center on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ( PICU ) at Primary Children’s Hospital ( PCH ). Scientific investigation will center on pulmonary vascular biology in conjunction with the Molecular Medicine Program.

The PICU at PCH is a 28-bed unit. There are over 2,000 PICU admissions annually. The units are staffed with BC critical care pediatricians. The clinical services provided span all modalities of life-sustaining therapy, including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and support, post-operative cardiac and neurosurgical care, trauma management, continuous renal replacement therapy and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

The University of Utah Molecular Medicine Program (U2M2) is the key interdisciplinary research engine for clinical departments. U2M2 investigators have primary appointments in clinical departments and lead research programs that advance translational science by catalyzing new discoveries and the development of new diagnostics and therapeutics for a variety of human diseases and conditions. U2M2 faculty and staff are located in the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics alongside the Department of Human Genetics. U2M2 faculty contribute to the Utah CCTS and MD-PhD program, and help direct the T35 Summer Medical Research Program, the NIH Heart Failure Clinical Research Network, the Metabolism Interest Group, and other research and clinical programs. U2M2 faculty also direct a number of T32s that are integrated with CCTS , MD-PhD, graduate, and clinical training programs. U2M2 faculty are expected to maintain independent grant funding and to contribute actively to the research and educational missions of the University of Utah. U2M2 program staff provide pre- and post-award support, infrastructure and space management, and related ancillary services for faculty members.

Qualified applicants must be BQ/BC in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine; have current or recent funding from the National Institutes of Health ( NIH ) to support laboratory research; and possess the credentials for appointment to the faculty of medicine at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the Clinical or Tenure tracks.
